Usiminas, one of the major steel manufacturers in Brazil, reported that its iron ore production totaled around 2.5 million tons in the fourth quarter of 2021, down by 2% compared to the previous quarter but up by 10% from the same period a year ago.

During the period, the sales volume of iron ore was roughly 2.6 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 8% and a year-on-year hike of 14%.

Among them, 1.84 million tons of iron ore were sold to overseas markets, an increase of 5% from the previous quarter. Of these, 592,000 tons were for its own use, the remaining 169,000 tons were sold to third-party manufacturers.
