As the Russia-Ukraine war is rising worries about supply disruption and soaring costs, Tata Steel is now looking for an alternative supply of coal. The company is facing lots of uncertainties with its Russian suppliers and bankers, so it needs to find out alternatives to lower risks.
Approximately 10-15% of Tata Steel’s coal demand was fulfilled by supply from Russia. Coal is used in pulverized coal injection (PCI), which is a process to inject large volumes of fine coal particles into the raceway of a blast furnace.
