ThyssenKrupp has made the final
decision to stop the production of steel plates. The company stated that it
intended to permanently close its heavy plate plant in Duisburg-Hüttenheim by
the end of September 2021. At the same time, it will be fulfilling the existing
orders only.
ThyssenKrupp expressed that the Hüttenheim plant has been losing money for many
years, and there are no optimistic prospects. Even it tried to find a buyer,
yet it still had no results and finally made the decision to close the plant.
The company stated that 90% of the Hüttenheim plant employees would work at
ThyssenKrupp Steel's other factories in Duisburg, and it also provided an early
retirement plan for them.
