The miner First Quantum announced its record copper output which reached its highest-ever annual copper production of 779kt at the Sentinel mine, in Zambia. It indicated an 11% increase from 2019. The firm's other operations were resilient, especially at Cobre Panama.

Sentinel hit its record copper production of 251kt for the full year, a 31kt higher compared to the previous year. Copper production in the fourth quarter of 2020 of 63kt moved up by 24% from the same period in 2019.

Cobre Panama's copper output in the fourth quarter of last year was up by 6kt from the fourth quarter in 2019. The Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia had a production sliding by 8kt year on year in the fourth quarter of 2020.

First Quantum's capital spending in 2020 dropped by roughly US$50 million compared to the previous expectation at US$675 million.
