According to the preliminary Census Bureau
data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 320,200
tons of slab in March, rising by nearly 18% compared to the previous month and
also surging by 1,443.4% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion,
totaling roughly 100,100 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 22.8% and the
volume was zero last March. The other import sources included Mexico (around
94,600 tons), Russia (around 90,600 tons), and Canada (around 35,000 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled around US$198 million, up by 38.3%
month on month and surging by 2,203.5% year on year.
