Chile's Pampa Camarones copper mine has
been put up for sale. This mined has been acquired in 2016 by Chilean private
equity fund Minería Activa with the purpose of adding value to it after the
previous owners declared it bankrupt.
The mine was operated at a loss for two years until it was decided to be sold
to Minería Activa.
The mine was reactivated in 2019. Since then, it became the only copper
operation in Chile’s northernmost region.
Now Minería Activa tries to sell this mine. Chile's Pampa Camarones copper mine
has attracted interest from Chile, the US, Asia, and Oceania.
Minería Activa has already some potential buyers on the list and plans to close
the sale later in 2021.
