According to the reports, due to
the epidemic, India's Tata Steel has put off its Kalinganagar steel plant's
capacity expansion plan, which was originally scheduled to expand the
production capacity from 3 million tons to 8 million tons by around November
2022. Now it has to wait until the 2023-24 fiscal year.
According to the news released by Tata Steel, the combined crude steel
production for the three months to March 2021 increased by 1.5% over the same
period last year. In overseas markets, Tata Steel Europe's liquid steel
production in the first quarter was also higher than the same period of last
year.
Looking forward to the 2021-22 fiscal year, Tata Steel stated that the new
round of the Covid-19 epidemic has affected the restoration of domestic demand,
but the international market provides attractive opportunities.
Thanks to the increase in exports to Europe, data from the Joint Plant
Committee of India (JPC) showed that India's exports of finished steel from
January to March increased by 26% year on year. In all areas of steel
consumption, the demand for steel was especially supported by the recovery of
the automotive industry.
