According to reports, the
American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) stated that the US Senate Homeland
Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) has passed the major
legislation in order to ensure the government purchases made-in-USA steel
products with taxpayers' money.
The AISI indicated that the government implemented the above measures will
guarantee some projects use steel products that were made in the US.
In this regard, these policies may remedy a loophole in the existing
government’s procurement plan. In addition, this bill also benefits
environmental protection because more steel products from foreign countries are
with higher carbon emissions compared to domestic steel products.
