At present, the epidemic situation caused understaffed
problems, and ports are piled up with containers in many countries. However, in
Asia, container prices are skyrocketing, but it is still hard to find a
container.
This wave of rising prices has been influenced by several reasons, such as the
epidemic, the Suez Canal obstruction, etc., which have put pressure on the
shipping industry.
China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP) pointed out that the
average freight charge for one container used to be US$2,000 from China to the
US, and now it is up to US$20,000 or even higher.
Although it is expensive to ship containers back, the freight margin is
acceptable to cover the return cost, so now freight companies are trying to get
empty overseas containers back.
