Japan's Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry (METI) announced that it has initiated an anti-dumping (AD) duty
investigation on imports of hot-dipped galvanized steel wire from China
(excluding Hong Kong and Macao) and South Korea. The investigation period was
from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2020.
The investigation was launched based on applications filed by local producers
Nichia Steel Works, Ltd., NS Hokkai Seisen Co., Ltd., Galvart Japan Co., Ltd.,
and Wire Techno, Ltd., alleging that imports of the product were being dumped
into Japan and causing material harm to Japanese domestic industries.
The rate of dumping margin for China was set at 25% to 35%, and that for South
Korea was at 20% to 30%.
The investigation will be completed within a year.
