Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd.’s (Wugang) new production line for non-oriented silicon steel is now in full operation, with its first batch of steel officially rolled out on July 16. This project, constructed by China's MCC Group, establishes Wugang's first dedicated production line for high-grade non-oriented silicon steel, specifically for the new energy vehicle sector.
The new line has an annual capacity of 550,000 tons. It focuses on producing ultra-thin, high-grade silicon steel, including products as thin as 0.1 mm, a world-class achievement. The production line covers over 20 types of high-end steel grades and is capable of supplying core steel for up to 4.4 million new energy vehicles annually.
The materials are critical for electric vehicle motors, industrial motors, and advanced robotics. The project not only boosts China's competitiveness in the silicon steel industry but also supports the nation's new energy vehicle development.
