According to statistics from Brazilian Steel Institute (IABr), the country's domestic steel demand had consistently surpassed supply since mid-2020.

In March of this year, Brazil's apparent domestic steel consumption exceeded the output by 356,000 tons. With the disconnection between supply and demand, Brazilian steel prices would continue to rise in 2021.

Brazilian rebar prices had increased by more than 100% in the past 12 months.
