According to the report, ArcelorMittal Poland decided to permanently close its Huta Krolewska steel plant in southern Poland, citing severe pressures on the EU steel industry and the facility’s aging condition. Production stopped in December, and 270 employees will be reassigned within the group.
The company said that despite multiple measures to maintain operations, including a PLN 30 million investment, unfavorable external conditions made continuation impossible. ArcelorMittal noted that the age of the equipment raised safety concerns and that upgrading the facility was no longer economically viable, leading to the decision to shut it down.
