To strengthen forest ecological security and effectively curb the spread of forest pests and diseases, the Nanle County Forestry Development Center in Puyang City, Henan Province, recently fully implemented its forestry insect killer lamps, ushering in a new era of green pest control using physical methods. With rising temperatures, forest pests are entering their peak season. This environmentally friendly "lights instead of pesticides" initiative not only protects forest resources but also balances ecological protection and green development.

I. Green Control: Empowering Technology to Protect Forest Health
Forests, as the backbone of terrestrial ecosystems, are crucial for regulating climate, conserving water and soil, and maintaining biodiversity. Recently, with rising spring temperatures, insect populations have increased significantly in some forest areas of Nanle County, posing a threat to forest growth. To reduce the environmental impact of chemical pesticide use, the County Forestry Development Center has actively shifted its pest control strategy, establishing a "physical control network" based on 35 forestry insect killer lamps. From April 8th to 11th, forest fire prevention technicians conducted centralized maintenance on the county's insect killer lamps to ensure optimal operation.
II. Initial Success: Pest Monitoring Data Demonstrates Effective Control
As of April 14th, all insect-killing lamps had been operating stably and normally for a week. That same day, technicians detected three red-bellied white moths within the insect-killing lamps in the forest park, a significant decrease compared to the same period last year and a significant reduction in pest activity within the forest area. This data directly demonstrates the positive impact of physical control measures in curbing the spread of pests and reducing the risk of tree damage. "Insect-killing lamps use light waves to trap adult insects, reducing mating and reproduction at the source. This precise and environmentally friendly approach is a key tool for ecological control."
III. Long-Term Control: Building a Three-Dimensional Defense System of "Monitoring, Management, and Publicity"
The Nanle County Forestry Center will establish a dynamic monitoring mechanism for insect-killing lamp operations, regularly collect insect data, scientifically evaluate control effectiveness, and adjust strategies based on pest species and occurrence patterns. Simultaneously, through science lectures and door-to-door outreach, they will educate surrounding residents about green control measures, encourage public participation in forest resource protection, and establish a prevention and control framework characterized by "government leadership, scientific support, and public participation."
This green pest control campaign not only vividly demonstrates Nanle County's commitment to the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," but also demonstrates the county's commitment to ecological protection through precise pest control and scientific conservation. As insect-killing lamps continue to be deployed throughout the county's forests, a vibrant ecological landscape of "protecting the environment with lamps and benefiting the people with greenery" is slowly unfolding.
