As a key landmark of urban development, lighting projects serve as both a "makeup mirror" that enhances a city's appearance and a "heart-warming light" that optimizes its livability. In recent years, Altay City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, has simultaneously advanced road hardening, greening, and beautification projects. Using lighting projects, the city's night sky is depicted as a vibrant, three-dimensional canvas of "bright lights reflecting the stars."

On the evening of June 3rd, Altay's Blue Bay Night Market transformed into a dazzling "city that never sleeps." Strings of warm yellow lanterns lined the columns, and flexible light strips above the stalls cascaded like a galaxy of stars. The sizzling sound of barbecued skewers and the chatter of diners intertwined in the light and shadows, with many tourists capturing this vibrant spectacle of life with their phones.
"The night market now has a truly atmospheric atmosphere, and the check-in spots are particularly unique," said resident Wang Ning. "The newly added shooting star lights not only illuminate the steps, but also give the food stalls a 'natural filter.'"
Yang Huimin, manager of the Blue Bay Night Market, said, "We've carefully integrated the layout of the light strips with the night market's movement, ensuring comfortable lighting while highlighting the food stalls through layers of light and shadow. We've also added themed check-in spots like Nezha and Pink Panther, creating an immersive nighttime experience for residents and tourists."
Not only are the night markets experiencing a new look, but the city's architectural complexes are also adding to the city's splendor. On Jinshan Road, over 20 locations have undergone lighting upgrades. Linear lights and spotlights interweave to create a three-dimensional rhythm for the buildings along the street. Window light strips outline merchandise with vibrant colors. The light strip matrix along the riverbank complements its reflections in the water, creating a striking contrast.
Resident Ding Jianbo said, "After get off work, I always want to walk along the river. The soft, non-glaring lighting paints the water's surface in vibrant colors, which is truly beautiful and relaxing."
Zhang Jili, Party Secretary of Badaoxiang Community in Jinshan Road Subdistrict, said, "We use soft, warm lighting to ensure residents' nighttime comfort. Some lighting fixtures are connected to a solar-powered control system that automatically adjusts brightness based on the weather, achieving a balance between aesthetics and practicality. We've also partnered with some businesses to implement lighting and beautification initiatives, including facade decoration, to bring vitality and style to public spaces."
Today, Altay, from street corner lamps to riverside light strips, from building outlines to park landscape lighting, is employing a comprehensive lighting system that combines points, lines, and surfaces, giving the city's nights both the romance of "lit up" and the warmth of "lit up." These bright lights illuminate not only the urban fabric but also Altay City's commitment to development and beauty.
