Worldsteel: Global crude steel production decreases in Feb y-o-y

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 141.8 million tons in February 2026, sliding by 2.2% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia and Oceania’s crude steel production reached 105.3 million tons, falling by 1.9% year on year, of which China's estimated output accounted for 76.1 million tons, down by 3.6% year on year. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was around 9.8 million tons, falling by 3.6% year on year. The CIS countries produced roughly 6 million tons, down by 10.5% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was 8.5 million tons, slightly going up by 0.5% year on year; South American output was 3.1 million tons, down by 7.7% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa went up by 4.7% year on year to 2.0 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 0.1% year on year to 3.7 million tons.

In the first two months of this year, global crude steel output amounted to roughly 298 million tons, a year-on-year reduction of 1.5%.
