Baosteel’s No. 1 blast furnace overhaul achieves modular transport milestone
The first hearth section removal from Baoshan Iron & Steel's (Baosteel) No. 1 blast furnace was successfully completed on March 28. Weighing over 5,880 tons, the operation set new national records for both maximum weight and shortest transport time for extra-large blast furnace overhauls.
Using third-generation modular technology, the project integrated a high-precision hydraulic synchronous control system with BIM modeling and laser distance measurement. This system maintained synchronous errors within 5mm.
By utilizing a specialized modular vehicle transport method instead of traditional one-stop sliding, the overhaul significantly shortened the construction period. This achievement secures a vital window for the remaining technical upgrades to the historic facility.
