Steel Dynamics, Inc., a US-based steel producer, announced that it has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 at its electric arc furnace plants. Besides, the firm also aimed to reach the milestone of short-term carbon reduction and renewable energy usage by 2025 and 2030.

Compared to the 2018 baseline, the greenhouse gas emission intensity of its electric furnace plants should be cut by 20% in 2025 and by 50% in 2030.

In addition, Steel Dynamics also planned to raise the renewable energy usage at its electric furnace plants to 10% in 2025 and to 30% by 2030.
