Copper price went down with slower growth in the US and China for manufacturing. Copper for delivery in September decreased by 1.4% from Monday’s settlement price.

China’s manufacturing activity in July expanded at the slowest pace in 17 months and the imports of copper decreased as well. The imports of scrap copper will be expected to decrease in China and potentially cripple the copper price recovery as China is a potential big consumer of copper in the whole world.

The Chinese government tries to control the surging commodity prices, including coal and copper. As a result, manufacturers’ margins have been decreased.

Chinese policymakers have been trying to tame soaring commodity prices, which have shrank manufacturers’ margins in the world’s second-biggest economy.
