According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports amounted to around 612,300 tons in the first nine months of this year, hiking by 6.3% compared to the same period a year ago. The import value totaled around US$552 million, a year-on-year increase of 85.4%.
Among them, the top three import sources were Russia (around 243,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 31.3%), China (around 213,100 tons, a year-on-year surge of 651.3%), and South Korea (around 62,900 tons, a year-on-year hike of 50.9%).
In September alone, Turkey’s CRC imports reached approximately 85,900 tons, dropping by 30.2% month on month while growing by 96.6% year on year. The import value was around US$92 million, down by 32% from August and soaring by 297% from last September.
