The US and the UK started to negotiate to address the US' Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum. UK Steel, the trade association for the UK steel industry, said that this agreement must be finalized with a result to benefit UK steel manufacturers and eliminate competitive disadvantage with the EU steel industry.
The tariffs have already reduced the UK exports to the US by 50%. UK Steel hoped that the UK government could use new independent trade powers to give UK producers the best possible outcome based on the EU agreement terms.
