U.S. Steel's Q4 earnings benefited by higher steel shipments
In the fourth quarter of 2021, U.S. Steel’s net earnings totaled US$1.069 billion, compared to the net earnings of US$49 million in the same period a year ago. The adjusted net earnings during the period reached US$1.038 billion, compared to the adjusted net loss of US$60 million in the fourth quarter of 2020.
The above performance was benefited by increases in steel shipments and market share, as well as healthy financial conditions.
For the full-year 2021, U.S. Steel’s net earnings totaled US$4.174 billion, compared with a net loss of US$1.165 billion in 2020.
