On February 24, Vale announced officially that it had canceled the emergency status of Itabiruçu tailings dam after comprehensive analysis about the geological characteristics of the mine. Now Itabiruçu status complies with the safety rule of the law.

During the one-year investigation, they finished the analysis about infrastructure, geology, construction methods, and so on. The analysis can reflect the accurate status of the mine.

The evaluation of the analysis was conducted by the external institution of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Minas Gerais (MPMG) and verificated by National Mining Agency (ANM).
