In a conference at the end of
April, Usiminas president Sergio Leite said that his company should enter a new
level in 2021, reaching approximately 5 million tons of sales volume, after
five years of operating with a sales volume of the 4 million tons level.
The president explained that with a sale of between 1.2 to 1.3 million tons of
steel in the second quarter this year, which was similar to the first quarter,
his company would achieve 5 million tons on annual basis.
One of the reasons for this increase in steel sales was the strong resumption
of the sectors in which the steelmaker operated and the restoration of
inventories in the distribution chain, according to Usiminas commercial vice
president Miguel Homes. According to him, there is still space for this
movement, mainly in the distribution chain and industry of capital goods.
