Taiwan’s pig iron imports soar in Dec 2021 m-o-m due to mills’ active purchase plans
According to statistics from Taiwan Customs, Taiwan imported 78,149 tons of pig iron in December 2021, surging by 419% compared to the previous month. The increase in imports was possibly due to mills' plans for production in the first quarter.
Among them, the imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 67,561 tons. South Africa ranked second with 8,500 tons.
In 2021, Taiwan’s pig iron imports amounted to approximately 429,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 119%, due to steel mills' active purchase.
