Recently, due to the safety
inspections, the supply of coal at some of China's major coal-producing areas
largely reduced.
For the importation of coal, the prices were high as the international shipping
costs had not yet gone back. Meanwhile, Australia's heavy rain restricted the
supplies, and the international demand, therefore, turned to Indonesia's
market. However, April is a month of Ramadan in Indonesia, so the resources
will be very limited.
As domestic demand kept strong with tight supply, it was estimated that the
coal prices still have room to rise.
From the perspective of demand, basically, April is the month of the
traditional off-season, but this year, due to the strong economic recovery, the
industrial electricity consumption significantly increased followingly. In
addition, the coal inventory at power plants was low, while the demand for coal
was greatly increased.
On the whole, the coal market in April was expected to remain high.
