The US government continued levying tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum products based on Section 232. The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) explained that the US and the EU are positively seeking the solution in order to alleviate the global tensions. They predicted that effective solutions will be found before the end of the year.

The US government said that they will continue to negotiate with the EU, but they didn't promise to abolish Section 232 tariffs by the end of this year.

The US worried that the cancellation of Section 232 tariffs might endanger the domestic steel industries before the situation that some countries such as China expanded their steel production capacity and sold their excess steel products overseas through low prices or governments' subsidies stopped.
