The Oil Mining Chamber of the Dominican Republic (Camipe) praised the mining industry’s contribution to the nation’s economic recovery.
According to the data, the Dominican mining industry grew by 16.2% year on year in the first five months of this year, higher than the 13.4% increase in the overall economy. Except for the construction sector’s 54% and free trade zones’ 30.1% growth, the mining industry had higher growth compared to other sectors.
The statistics from ProDominicana showed that ferronickel was the sixth-largest exported commodity in the January-May period, with a total value of US$164 million, up by 3.44% year on year.
